This article is not a tribute to nostalgia. It is an attack on throwaway thinking: real, reliable things that can withstand heavy use.

Durability is not a lifestyle, it is discipline. These things do not make you happier, but less dependent. If a product promises to “last a lifetime” but cannot do so without instructions, do not believe it. Buy less. Buy better. And use it hard.
