Self-sufficient in 52 weeks (9) – Check your medicines and personal care

Forgetting medication is one thing. No longer having access to a pharmacy or doctor is another. That’s why it’s important to at least know what you need, where your medication is and how it works.

Why this is important

During power cuts or supply problems, medicines can quickly become scarce. A small stock makes a big difference.

What you need to do

Make a list of what your family uses: painkillers, fever reducers, allergy tablets, personal prescriptions. Build up a small reserve. Store everything cool, dry and dark. Check expiry dates and refresh in time. A first aid kit must be complete and also provide for (minor) illnesses.

Conclusion

Health is your first line of defence. With a basic stock you maintain control, even when the world stands still for a moment.
